Web Site Optimization
- Another Search Engine Placement Tip -
Domain Name Registration
Our SEO consultant gives another web site optimization
tip that may boost your chances of higher search engine placement.
Your domain name will be your address on the Internet. Before
you begin the registration process, make sure that the name you
choose is presentable and memorable to your visitors. It should
be a concise representation of what your web site has to offer as
you incorporate targeted keywords.
Before you can begin the search for the perfect domain
name, let alone begin the optimization process for indexing in any
major engine, it is highly recommended that you do extensive research
on the keywords that you are considering for placement throughout
your site during the SEO process. Once you have chosen your
most important, most searched for keyword term, it may give you
an added boost to incorporate this term into the domain name as
you begin the registration of your new address. Our consultant
tells more...
Your web site optimization efforts are going to depend
on so many factors. Many of which, a majority of people wouldn't
even consider. When optimizing your site(s), you must also
consider the average user, not just search engine criteria.
When you choose your domain name, keep in mind that
many browsers will default to .com when no top level extension is
chosen. If someone can not remember the extension of a website,
most of the time, they will choose .com over .net, .org, .tv, etc.
Although other web extensions may be less expensive or your first
choice for your site is not available through .com, this example
is just one example of why .com would be a preferable extension
to choose and how your optimization process can also affect the
visitors coming to your pages.
Search Engine Placement and Your Domains
When considering search engine placement, it is normally
a good idea to steer clear from a .nu top level domain. These
extensions have become known to be associated with spam and porn
sites and have a tendency to be completely ignored by important
spiders. It is also a good idea to include hyphens (-) between
each of the keywords within your domain name. This tells a
search engine spider that each word is a separate word, not one
continuous word. Domain name registration can now be up to
to sixty-four characters, so you have a lot of room to get
that perfect phrase in there and still be able to include the hyphens
between each word to possibly gain a better placement.
